This construction is a house for a retired couple.
They are settling in a private development by the Atlantic Ocean. The layout avoids cutting down the trees of the Landes forest.
The land is preserved in its original state of undergrowth.

The construction is compact and creates its own outdoor space within the built area.
This patio separates a part of the house that is inhabited year-round from an outbuilding for family and friends. Two sliding glass gates intimate this place.
The house is built with a wooden frame and wooden posts/beams on a polished concrete slab.
The roof is a membrane that meets the flat roof requirement of the development.
The anodized aluminum window frames open only onto the patio.
Roof frames allow natural light and ventilation into the heart of each part.
This house extracts itself from its development context to reconnect with the original forest life.

The former Garipuy house has been updated into a house of associations.
A series of targeted interventions make it possible to accommodate these new programs.
Four adjoining rooms are grouped together to create the room reserved for associations.
Two superimposed rooms are grouped together to create a small double-height bookcase.
The old barn opens widely onto the adjoining park through two large sliding windows.
A shed on the roof allows natural ventilation and natural light to enter.

The building is made up of very built sub-assemblies corresponding to different periods of construction.
The intervention disrupts the thermal behavior of the unit respecting the constructive characteristics of different times.
The main body becomes the main living area, made up of the living room on the ground floor and the sleeping rooms upstairs.
The floors (slab beam at the bottom and wooden frame at the top) are rebuilt at new altitudes.
The bays are open up to the roof.
The old closed house is replaced by a dark wooden wall which takes over the loads of the preserved clothes.
A change to the exterior of the home allows changes to the home.
A winter garden occupies the construction in the center of the community.
It connects four places: the street, the garden, the house and the garage/outbuilding.
The thermal management devices (velums, French opening) can be used at all locations for different uses.

After buying a small plot (2.50m by 20m) at the back of their home, a family wants to achieve an extension at their ground floor. The project consists of expanding their living room on this parcel.

The brick wall of the house is open on all its length and a large sliding glass door acts as a cover. This new room adopts several functions: living room, kitchen, winter garden but also terrace during the beautiful days. A new space both inside and out.
